Young Philanthropists
|
Aimed at invigorating the next generation of community leaders, the Young Philanthropists are becoming involved in philanthropy by working together to build an endowment fund called The Future Fund. Through annual contributions of $250 per couple and $125 for single, the Fund is being built so that annual grants may be made to interest areas which concern its members. The first grant awarded by The Young Philanthropists from The Future Fund was awarded at our November 2006 event. The amount of $3,000 was given to The Parent Place to provide diapers for its Diaper Pantry, as a way to tangibly help families in need. The second grant from The Future Fund was awarded in 2007 to Asbury's Children's Supper Hour. The grant in the amount of $4,000 enabled the Supper Hour to expand its program from 3 days a week to 4 days a week to serve nutritious meals to disadvantaged children and to supervise after-school activities and help with homework. The third grant from The Future Fund was awarded in 2008 to Prairie Center Against Sexual Assault. The grant in the amount of $5,000 allows the initiation of Hug Away the Hurt, a therapy program that offers abused children an opportunity to create their own personalized teddy bear for consolation. The fourth grant from The Future Fund was awarded in 2009 to the Elizabeth Ann Seton Program. The grant in the amount of $5,000 funded a Moments Make Memories educational project to assist women in creating closer bonds with their children. Social events for members make group membership a fun and inviting way to help our community. To join The Young Philanthropists, click here. Learn more....
