The Foundation

The Sangamon County Community Foundation is here to help. We are a public charity with the primary function of providing a service to other charities and philanthropists in our local community.

SCCF carries out its mission by building permanent endowments as charitable capital for our local community. We maintain the highest professional standards for the investment and management of the funds entrusted to the Foundation. SCCF also promotes effective grant making to serve both the current and future needs of the greater Springfield area.

The Sangamon County Community Foundation acts as a vehicle to serve donors with varied interests, at all levels of charitable giving. We link donors with charitable agencies that can most efficiently carry out the desired objectives for their funds. The Foundation offers donors maximum flexibility when selecting assets classes to create a fund, as well as when determining options for the eventual use of donors' gifts.

We are never the final destination for charitable dollars. Establishing a new fund with us is essentially giving "through" the SCCF rather than "to" the SCCF. Community Foundations like ours have often been referred to as philanthropic banks, where separate accounts serve distinct needs and wishes. We do all of the hard work, so donors can focus on the positive outcome of the eventual gift.
