The Sangamon County Community Foundation administers a variety of
post-secondary scholarships.
Listed below are the scholarships available in 2010 and general
requirements. To view the full list of criteria for each scholarship or
to begin a new application, click on the links below.
All SCCF scholarship applications will now be completed using our online
system. Applicants will register with their email address and a
password, which may be used for all 2010 SCCF applications.
The system will allow you to start an application and return to it at a
later time to complete it.
Please carefully follow instructions given at the beginning the process

Bud and Helene O’Shea Construction Scholarship – $1,000 (Renewable
- 3 scholarships
available)
* Pursue a field of study in construction, engineering or
architecture
* Demonstrate financial need
Applications Due March 1, 2010
Charlie Cottle Scholarship – $1,000
* Chatham Glenwood High School student
* Varsity athlete
Frontiers International Springfield Club Scholarship – $500
(Multiple scholarships available)
* Preference is given to African-American students (either
male or female)
* Preference will be given to applicants with substantial
financial need
Illinois Women in Leadership High School Scholarship – $1,000 (3
scholarships available)
* Female exhibiting leadership qualities and strong
potential and desire for professional growth
Illinois Women in Leadership Chrysalis Award – $1,000
* Female who has earned a high school diploma or GED at
least 5 years ago exhibiting leadership qualities and strong
potential and desire for professional growth
* May be full-time or part-time student
* May be a first-time college student or be a continuing or
returning college student
Jamie K. Patino Math and Science Scholarship – $500
* Springfield Southeast High School student
* Working for a degree in the field of engineering, math or
science
Linda S. Culver Memorial Scholarship – $1,000
* Must be a college junior, senior or graduate student
* Be registered as a Girl Scout with the Girl Scouts of
Central Illinois
* Past recipients are eligible to reapply
Lori L. Kashmer Scholarship Fund – $5,000
* Pursuing a degree in nursing, health or medical career
or in veterinary medicine
* May be full-time or part-time student
* Exhibit a passion for learning
* Demonstrate financial need
Mary Lou and Dwight Pitman Scholarship – $1,000 (Renewable)
* Area public high school student in Sangamon County
(outside Springfield and Chatham Glenwood School Districts)
* At least one older sibling currently enrolled in college
and/or at least one younger sibling who plans to attend college
* Demonstrate financial need
National Image Inc., Central Illinois Chapter Medical Scholarship –
$1,000 (Renewable)
* Currently reside in Central Illinois
* Latino descent
* Be pursuing specified medical profession at an institution
within Sangamon County
Paul V. Gage Community Service Scholarship - $600
* Vienna High School student
* Demonstrate excellence in community service
* Demonstrate financial need
* Preliminary application must be submitted to the high
school principal – contact the principal for the preliminary application
form
Reverend Kenneth H. White Family Scholarship - $600 (or 2
scholarships at $300)
* Lanphier High School student
* Be planning on obtaining a State Teaching Certificate and
express intent to teach in the public school system
SCCF Service Scholarship –
$500
Must be nominated by high school principal;
contact your guidance counselor for more information. Unsolicited
applications will not be accepted.
* Be a graduating senior from a high school in Sangamon
County
* Be an extraordinary example of service to others and to
the community
Silver Heart Scholarship in Memory of Mark D. Moseley - $2,500
* Sacred Heart-Griffin High School student
* Demonstrate financial need
Spanish American Cultural Center Scholarship - $2,000 (Renewable – 3
scholarships available)
* Latino descent
* Be a high school graduate from one of the following
Illinois counties, or have a GED Certificate from an institution located
in any of the following Illinois counties: Sangamon, Cass, Douglas,
Champaign, Macon, McLean or Morgan. Applicant must be no older than 20
years of age by September 1st of the school year for which application
is made
* Scholarship is renewable for one additional year
Vonderlieth Living Center Employee Scholarship Fund - $500
(Renewable)
* Be an employee of Vonderlieth Living Center, Mt. Pulaski,
Illinois, at the time of the scholarship application deadline and for at
least six months prior to that date
* May be full-time or part-time student
* Scholarship is renewable for one additional year, and
former recipients may reapply
World War II Illinois Descendants Scholarship – $2,000 (2
scholarships available)
Must be nominated by
high school principal; contact your guidance counselor for more
information. Unsolicited applications will not be accepted.
* Be a graduating senior from a public or private high
school in Illinois
* Be a direct descendant of a WW II Illinois Veteran
(e.g. granddaughter, great-grandson, etc. – not great niece or
nephew)
* Have a 4.0 GPA (or projected to be a valedictorian or
salutatorian of high school graduating class)
Other
Springfield
Area Home Builders Association’s Robert E. von Behren Memorial
Scholarship - $1,000
* Be selected as an SAHBA Student of the Month in the
current year or the past three years
* Additional information and application forms are available
through the
SAHBA website or by calling 698-4941
Due to the number of applications received, only the scholarship
recipient will be contacted by mail. The recipient will also be posted
on the Sangamon County Community Foundation website at www.sccf.us by
May 1st.
Only complete applications (including all required attachments)
submitted before the deadline will be accepted. All information
submitted becomes the property of the Sangamon County Community
Foundation and will be kept confidential.
